‘Like Riding a Bike’ is a campaign designed to try and change the way non-cyclists view cycling. The campaign references those carefree, happy days of childhood cycling, free-wheeling downhill with the wind in your hair moments.

This film is about how we captured the images – by stopping passing cyclists and getting them to agree to take part, be photographed and tell us the story of their journey.

A lot of people who may be considering the bike as an option see people out there on bikes that are really sports orientated, wear a lot of lycra with loads of technical gear, and they don’t associate themselves with that.

This campaign is trying to change that image and show that anyone can ride a bike.

This film accompanies the Rachel Whiteread exhibition running at Tate Britain from 8 September 2010 until 16 January 2011.

Rachel Whiteread is renowned for her evocative large-scale sculptures, but drawing has always remained one of her core activities. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore her works on paper, most of which have never been shown before in a public gallery.

These collages and drawings provide a fascinating and intimate insight into the creative process behind Whiteread’s work. While her sculptures are often large-scale and involve a team of fabricators, these paper works provide a more personal, mobile counterpoint. Nevertheless, they also share many of the themes familiar from her public commissions: texture and surface; void and presence; and the subtle observation of human traces in everyday life.

Directed by James Price
Filmed & Edited by Tim Cowie and James Price
Sound Design by Gurnot Fuhrmann
Produced by Kate Vogel

It presents an anthropomorphic portrait of London that reveals the abstract dance of this 24-hour city. It explores the capital as a physical organism and its hidden relationship with a larger, digital landscape, creating a cardiogram of the city that perpetually reflects the ‘now’.

The film was created by a group of visual artists through an extensive series of visual studies around London in 2009. The resulting 30 minute film charts a daily cycle of the city which is then translated onto the surrounding LED curatin as a stream of live data feeds. These information feeds are being continually updated via the web and continually re-printed by the hands of a giant RGB clock.

LDN24 is a commission by the Museum of London in collaboration with Film London.

Director: Christopher Allen

Producer: Alice Ceresole

Editor: Tim Cowie

Visual Production: Christopher Allen, Tim Cowie, Dean Moore, James Price, Rita Ribas, Stuart York

Data Visualisation: Field.io

Sound Design: Tim Cowie, Malcolm Litson

Locations: Alice Ceresole, Dan Fellows

Research: Peter Brenan, Eleanor Downey

Production Assistant: Helen Omand

The installation will be on display in the museum until 2012 and is free entry to the public.

“CraftCube: Nap” features a set of two synchronized short films which together form a protrait of the work of glass maker Angela Jarman. The film reveals the processes involved in the creation of a piece of her worked entitled NAP. Together these films form the audio visual content for the Craft Coucil’s set of touring installations know as The CraftCube initiative.

The film on the top was projected onto a large projection surface on the wall of the CraftCube, while the film on the bottom was presented through large plasma screen embedded into the surface of a display case, which also houses the finished object itself.

The CraftCube initiative presents new and exciting ways of displaying, interpreting and accessing contemporary craft with a focus on new technology.

The programme has been developed to showcase objects from the Crafts Council Collection – CraftCube: Collection – and to champion the work of Research Fellows that are at the cutting edge of contemporary practice – CraftCube: Research. Each CraftCube is an individual display environment, including objects and interpretation.
